Obituary of Gerald E. Pruski
Gerald “Jerry” Edward Pruski, 81, of Lancaster, NY passed away peacefully at home on August 24, 2023 surrounded by his family.
Son of the late Alexander and Jean Pruski, Gerald was born in Depew, NY on November 8, 1941. He was predeceased by his beloved bride of 59 years, Lena Pruski.
Gerald graduated from Lancaster High School in 1959. He went on to serve in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. He then went through night school and apprenticeship to become an electrician. He worked for many years early on in his career at Zoerb Electrical Contractors in Williamsville, NY. He then went on to accept an electrician position at Ford Motor Company in Blasdell, NY where he worked with immense pride until he ultimately retired after many years. He was a union member of the IBEW Local 41. Gerald loved his craft and served as a mentor and friend to many electricians throughout his career.
He leaves behind his adored daughters Lynda Pruski, of Wellsville, NY and Sharon and husband, (Dr. Vincent Alvaro), of Somers, CT; and his 6 grandchildren who lit up his life, Zackery (Jacqueline) Mundus, Olivia (Glenn) Usher, Dr. Jake (Holly) Alvaro, Andrew (Jessirah) Fenton, Luke (Katerina) Alvaro and Ross Alvaro; and 2 great grandsons Theophilus Alvaro, and Levi Fenton. Also surviving Gerald are his dear brother Henry Pruski, and loving sister Annette Pruski of Reading, PA and several nieces and nephews.
Gerald was an avid Bills fan, but his greatest joy was found enjoying the simple pleasures of life, spending time with his family, telling stories, listening and dancing to music, and of course, mowing his lawn with his John Deere tractor. His home was his sanctuary, those who knew him, will always remember how he referred to it as the ‘Pruski Ponderosa.’ In retirement, he loved visiting his and Lena’s ‘little slice of heaven’ in Florida at Ft. Lauderdale by the Sea where they made many friendships and cherished memories.
He was a kind man who dedicated his life to being a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He will be forever loved and missed. Gerald’s family will receive family and friends for calling hours from 3:00pm to 7:00pm on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 and
