Obituary of Dr. Joseph S. Gizinski

Of Lancaster, NY, died Aug 24, 2023 at age 98, beloved husband of the late Eleanore (Szczesniak). Devoted father of Jacqueline (David) Stepien, Christine (late Kevin) Lawrence and Joseph (Linda) Gizinski. Loving grandfather of Kevin (Dr Lynn) Lawrence, Carrie (Chadd) Hamilton, Jason (Kimberly) Lawrence, Joey Gizinski, Joshua Gizinski, Julie (Matthew) Pileggi, Melissa (Timothy) O’Brien and Valerie (Richard) Ford. Proud great-grandfather of 15. Also survived by nieces and nephews. Joseph was a graduate of Depew High School, and was a member of the Army Air Corp during WW II. After the war he earned his BS & MS from Canisius College & his EdD from U.B. He taught at Depew & Cleveland Hill as well as being vice principal there. He concluded his career in education as Superintendent of the Cheektowaga-Sloan School district, retiring in 1979. Joseph volunteered for 20 yrs at St. Joseph Hospital, and was a lector & Eucharistic Minister at St James Church, in Depew, NY. Visitation at the Cichon-Borgosz Funeral Home, 4929 Broadway, Depew Thursday 3-6PM. Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mother Teresa Parish at St. James Church 496 Terrace Blvd, Depew, Friday at 10 AM. Please Assemble at Church.
