I worked with Sandy at Albion Correctional Facility for over 20 years. She was my office mate for 7 years. I appreciated her
objective and calm counsel in work matters and many interpersonal conflicts. She was an unbiased and stable mentor to me
in many work matters.
I have been checking the obituaries (at my age) regularly for the past years often looking for familiar names and glad to know Sandy was still cancer-free when her name was not found. Today I found her name and called her (why would I do that?). Maybe because I connected with her lovely sister, Shirley with whom I shared many memories of Sandy as did she. I am very grateful for the time Shirley gave me and the knowledge of how Sandy's cancer had reoccurred in 2016. I last saw Sandy in 2018 at lunch and she did not mention her cancer was back. She was not a complainer and just faced what life threw at her.
I am so sorry for your loss to the family of Sandy who was a stable, mature presence in people's lives.
