Obituary of Florence Joan (nee Manka) Baranski

Florence Joan “Busia” Baranski, 98, of Lecompton, KS, died Monday, September 24, 2018 at her home in rural Lecompton. She was born September 18, 1920 in Buffalo, NY, the daughter of John Anthony and Stella Plevniak Manka. She worked many years as a meat packer for Gerber’s Meats in Buffalo, retiring in 1985. She also had proudly served and worked as a “Rosy the Riveter” in the Buffalo defense plant during WWII. She was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, Perry, KS. Mrs. Baranski was dedicated to her family and was an avid baker, cook and seamstress. She was married to Joseph Anthony Baranski on May 8, 1943 in Buffalo, N.Y., he preceded her in death on January 8, 1995. She is lovingly survived by her son and daughter in law, Dennis (Linda) Baranski, Lecompton, one sister, Patricia Lewczyk, Hamburg, NY, three grandsons, Joseph (Meghan) Baranski,Lecompton, John (Brandy) Baranski, Baldwin City, Damien (Amber) Baranski, Lawrence, and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.  A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated, Saturday, September 29, 2018 at St. Theresa Catholic Church, Perry, KS. Burial will be at St. Augustine Cemetery, Lancaster, NY. Memorials suggested to Douglas County Visiting Nurses Bridge Program
