Jeanette M. Tolsma of Elma, New York, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2026, at the remarkable age of 101.

Born in Gardenville, New York, on September 17, 1924, Jeanette was the beloved daughter of the late Jeanette (née Lehde) and Charles Goehle. On November 12, 1943, she married the love of her life, Herbert Tolsma, with whom she shared many devoted and happy years until his passing.

Jeanette was a talented beautician who warmly welcomed clients into the beauty shop she operated from her home for many years. Her creativity extended far beyond her profession. She found great joy in painting on porcelain and crafting, expressing her artistic spirit in everything she did. A gifted musician, Jeanette faithfully played the piano for many years at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Alden, enriching worship services and touching the lives of many through her music.

Jeanette’s greatest pride was her family. She was the beloved wife of the late Herbert Tolsma; devoted mother of Lois ( late Henry) Hinsken and the late Glenn Tolsma; and loving grandmother of Sally (Merideth) Hudson, Dawn Kroll, Peter (Cheryl) Hinsken, David (Tamatha) Hinsken, and Gwen Hinsken. She was a cherished great-grandmother to Christopher (Caity), Hillary (Mitch), Jonathan (Carin), Jeremy (Megan), Boe (Matt), and Cassidy (Dylan), and a treasured great-great-grandmother to Addison.

She was the dear sister of the late Charles (Betty) Goehle and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews who will fondly remember her warmth, kindness, and gentle spirit.

A service to celebrate Jeanette’s life will be held at a later date, with details to be announced.

Jeanette will be remembered for her creativity, devotion to her faith, and unwavering love for her family. Her long and meaningful life leaves a legacy of cherished memories for all who knew her.
