Craig S. Banas Obituary

Craig S. Banas of Elma, NY, passed away on April 9, 2026, at the age of 47. Born on June 4, 1978, in Buffalo, New York, Craig was a lifelong resident of Elma, a community he loved and proudly called home.

A 1996 graduate of the Iroquois Central School District, Craig went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Canisius University. Gifted with a naturally inquisitive mind, he was always fascinated by how things worked. Mechanically inclined and endlessly resourceful, Craig had a remarkable ability to fix just about anything. Family, friends, and neighbors knew they could always count on him for help, and he never hesitated to lend a hand.

Craig was a respected supervisor at Stony Manufacturing, a precision machine shop in Elma, where his leadership, dedication, and strong work ethic earned the admiration of his colleagues. He took great pride in his work and in the relationships he built throughout his career.

His greatest joy, however, was found at his farm. Craig cherished the simple pleasures of country life and had a deep love for his animals, caring for them with patience and devotion. He felt most at peace in the outdoors—whether tending to the land, casting a line while fishing, or simply enjoying the quiet beauty of nature. These moments reflected his gentle spirit and appreciation for life’s simple blessings.

Craig will be remembered for his kind heart, dependable nature, and quiet generosity. He had a warm sense of humor and a steady presence that brought comfort to those around him. Above all, he treasured his family and the time spent with them.

He was the beloved son of Carol (late Stanley) Puffer and the late Robert Banas; loving brother of Kim (Gary) Wilson; and devoted uncle of Dillon, Makenna, Matthew, and Joshua, who brought him immense pride and joy. Craig is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends whose lives were enriched by his presence.

Relatives and friends may visit on Monday from 3:00–7:00 PM at the Cichon-Borgosz Funeral Home, Inc., 4929 Broadway, Depew, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:00 AM at the Church of the Annunciation, 7580 Clinton Street, Elma, NY. Please assemble at the church. Interment will follow at St. Adalbert Cemetery in Lancaster, NY.

Craig’s family is gratefully declining flowers.
