Ronald E. "Hoop" Hooper Obituary

Ronald E. “Hoop” Hooper of Depew, New York, passed away on March 17, 2026. He was born on August 6, 1958, in Buffalo, New York, to Dorothy (née Hay) Hooper and the late Roland Hooper.

Ron, known to so many as “Hoop,” was the kind of man who left an impression wherever he went. He had a big heart, a great sense of humor, and a way of making people feel like family. On July 16, 1983, he married the love of his life, Colleen A. (née Dunn) Hooper, at Maryvale Presbyterian Church in Cheektowaga, beginning a lifelong partnership filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion.

He found joy in the simple things—time spent with family, sharing stories, and doing what he loved most. Ron was an avid bowler and a proud member of the Lost Kustoms Car Club, where he formed many lasting friendships. A true classic car enthusiast, he took great pride in his cars, especially his 1969 Nova, 1980 Malibu Station Wagon, and 1962 Impala. Whether he was working on them, showing them off, or just talking cars, it was where he was happiest.

Above all, Ron was a family man. He was a devoted husband, a proud and loving father, and a grandfather who absolutely adored his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Colleen; his children, Timothy Senger, Kira Ferdinand, Ronald (Victoria) Hooper Jr., and Melissa (Gregory) Lipczynski; and his cherished grandchildren, Cody, Samantha (Phillip), Ronald III “RJ,” Mason, Kylee, Ian, Cameron, and Eleanor. Each of them held a special place in his heart, and he loved them in his own steady, unforgettable way.

He is also survived by his loving mother, Dorothy Hooper; his sisters, Diane Barrett and Lynn (Bernard) Scheffer; and many nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly. He was predeceased by his father, Roland Hooper, and his sister, Sue Hooper. Ron also leaves behind his loyal and beloved fur companion, Carly.

Hoop will be remembered for his loyalty, his laughter, and the way he brought people together—whether it was around family, friends, or a shared love of cars. His presence will be deeply missed, but the memories he created will live on in all who knew and loved him.

Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate Ron’s life on Saturday, March 21, 2026, from 1–4 PM at Cichon-Borgosz Funeral Home, Inc., 4929 Broadway, Depew, NY.14043.
