Melanie Ann (nee Wypij) Skinner Obituary
Melanie Ann (nee Wypij) Skinner, of Cheektowaga, NY, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born on April 10, 1966, in Buffalo, NY, to Patricia (nee Sandgren) and the late Stanislaus Wypij, Melanie grew into a woman whose heart was as big as her smile.
On November 8, 2006, she married the love of her life, Jeff Skinner, in beautiful Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Their marriage was filled with laughter, partnership, and a deep devotion to one another. Jeff was her best friend, and together they created a home where everyone felt welcome.
Melanie’s greatest pride and joy was her family. She was a devoted and loving mother to Courtney (Brian) Bennett, Julie (Chris) Howland, Andrew (Denise) Skinner, Rob (Erin) Skinner, and Matthew (Caleigh) Skinner. She poured her heart into her children, always offering encouragement, guidance, and unconditional love. Becoming “Grandma” was one of the happiest chapters of her life. Jack, Allie, Paige, Miles, James, and Lilah were the light of her world, and she treasured every hug, every laugh, and every moment spent with them.
As a Medical Assistant at Trinity Cardiology in Cheektowaga, Melanie cared deeply for her patients. She was more than a caregiver—she was a comforting presence. Her kindness, patience, and warm spirit made a difference in the lives of so many.
Melanie had a zest for life. She loved golfing on sunny afternoons, dancing without hesitation, getting lost in a good book, and traveling to new places—especially when it meant making memories with those she loved. She was the kind of person who showed up, who helped without being asked, and who made others feel important. If someone needed her, she was there—no questions asked.
She is the cherished daughter of Patricia (nee Sandgren) and the late Stanislaus Wypij; dear sister of Kevin (Shari) Wypij and Patrick (Pamela) Wypij; and is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
Melanie’s legacy is one of love, generosity, strength, and selflessness. The world is better because she was in it, and her absence leaves a space that can never be filled.
Relatives and friends are invited to visitation at the Cichon-Borgosz Funeral Home, Inc., 4929 Broadway, Depew, on Sunday from 1–4 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Martha Parish, 10 French Road, Depew, on Monday at 10 AM. Please assemble at church. Interment will follow at St. Augustine Cemetery.
Flowers are gratefully declined.
