Obituary of Richard S. Catanzaro
Richard S. “Rick” Catanzaro, of Alden, passed away surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on November 27, 1952, in Buffalo, NY, to the late Adeline (née Kuhns) and Samuel Catanzaro.
Rick shared more than 50 years of marriage, friendship, and unwavering love with his beloved wife, Elizabeth “Liz” (née Mondia) Catanzaro. The two were married on October 12, 1973, at St. Bernard Church in Buffalo, beginning a lifetime partnership built on devotion, laughter, and family.
Rick was a devoted and loving father to Tracy (Scott) Maciejewski and Jeremy (Angie) Catanzaro, and the proud and doting “Papa” to Grace, Ayden, Ava, and Lily. His grandchildren were the light of his life, and nothing brought him greater happiness than time spent with them. He was a dear brother to Peggy Catanzaro and Sam (Maureen) Catanzaro, and was predeceased by his brother Michael (Carol) Catanzaro. Rick is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins who will miss him dearly.
A proud member of the Teamsters, Rick was known for his strong work ethic and dedication to providing for his family. He found peace and joy in the outdoors and was an avid hunter, fisherman, and camper. A member of the New York State Big Bucks Club, Rick treasured time in nature, but his greatest joy was always found at home, surrounded by those he loved.
Rick will be remembered for his kindness, quiet strength, sense of humor, and deep love for his family. His presence filled a room, his stories brought smiles, and his love will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew him.
Family and friends are invited to attend visitation celebrating Rick’s life at the Cichon-Borgosz Funeral Home, Inc., 4929 Broadway, Depew, NY 14043, on Monday, January 26, 2026, from 3:00–6:00 PM.
