Obituary of Albert D. "Buddy" Hammer
Albert Dean Hammer, lovingly known as “Buddy,” passed away on December 20, 2025. He was born on January 3, 1946, in Depew, New York, to the late Mildred (Amrhein) and Albert Hammer.
Dean married his high school sweetheart, Mary Ellen Duggan, in 1968, beginning a devoted partnership that spanned decades. He was a proud and loving father to Denean (Bruce) Senechal, Daniel (Kelly) Hammer, and Cory Hammer, and a cherished grandfather to Jordan, Madison, and Anthony, who brought him endless joy.
Dean was predeceased by his brothers, Arthur (Linda) Hammer and Robert(late Jeanne) Hammer, his sister, Joyce (late Don) Butlak . He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
A lifelong Depew resident, Dean left his mark on the community in countless ways. He was the Founder and President of the Elk Head Hunting and Fishing Club, a role he held with pride and dedication for over 30 years. An avid hunter and fisherman, Dean found peace and happiness outdoors, especially when sharing those passions with family and friends.
Dean’s love for football was unmatched. A standout athlete, he still holds the Depew High School receiving touchdowns record from 1963—an achievement he carried with pride throughout his life.
Family, friendship, sportsmanship, and tradition defined Dean’s life. He will be remembered for his loyalty, leadership, and the stories he loved to tell.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Visitation Celebrating Dean’s Life on Monday, December 29, 2025, from 3:00–6:00 PM at Cichon-Borgosz Funeral Home, Inc., 4929 Broadway, Depew, NY 14043.
Dean will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
