Gary L. Kernen, 77, of Cheektowaga, NY passed away peacefully surrounded by family. He was born on July 21, 1948, in Villisca, Iowa, the son of the late Jean (née Graham) and Kenneth Kernen.

A proud U.S. Navy veteran, Gary honorably served his country from 1969 to 1973. He was a longtime member of IBEW Local 41 and the IBEW Local 41 Retirees, where he formed many lifelong friendships.

Gary was the beloved husband of Joanne (née Czerwonka) Kernen; devoted father of Richard Kernen and Lisa Kernen and loving grandpa of Joseph Roberts. He was also the dear brother of David (Leenore) Kernen and John (Denise) Kernen.

Relatives and friends are invited to Military Honors Ceremony at Western New York National Cemetery 1254 Indian Falls Road, Corfu, NY 14036 Monday October 27, 2025 at 10 AM. (Please Assemble at the Cemetery Administration Building at 9:45 AM.)
