The example of how to father children. The example of work smart. The example of lovingly sarcastic. The example of one of the best people I have ever known and will ever know. I am getting to buffalo Sunday so I’ll miss the service Saturday. Gonna see the kids Sunday. I love you so much bro

Darwin and I met over 20 years ago through work and we became instant friends from day one. He became one of my best friends, one of my closest friends. Throughout the years of friendship we always remained close and as I watched him get married and have kids, we became like family. He was there to put a smile on my face through the hard times in life and he was there to smile with me through the good times. That was one of Darwin’s many great qualities, no matter what you were going through, he knew how to lift you up, and no matter how much fun you were having, he knew how to make it even more enjoyable. I am so lucky, so grateful, and so blessed to have met Darwin and his family. To have shared such amazing life experiences with and I am so proud to have been able to call him not only a friend, but a brother. He was an amazing person in all aspects and I’ll miss him terribly, more than words can express and he passed from this earth way too soon. There was so much more we needed to do and experience, but I know in my heart that he will always be with us, he will always be with us through the good times and the bad until we meet again. Love ya Darwin, the memories you left me and so many others will last forever. You’ll always be in my heart like so many other’s who were lucky enough to meet you. Love ya always brother, until we meet again.

Even though I only saw Darwin during tax time, his love of life would fill up the room. He always had a great smile and we would laugh together every time we saw each other! What a great man and what a terrible loss for this world. Be at peace, Darwin!! Love you!!

I worked with Darwin together for 15 years at Verizon wireless. We talked few months ago about having lunch together. Absolutely shocked about hearing his passing. You could have the worst day and he would make it all better. I will miss my friend so much. Tell your family and friends what they mean to you. Time goes by so fast because you never know what may happen. RIP MY BROTHER. God Bless keep making jokes to everyone up there.

Darwin was such a good boss, and person. He will be missed by all of us … it’s incredibly hard to wrap our minds around what has happened. He was so special to many, and worked hard every single day to reach the goals set by himself & set for us. There’s so many good things I can say, and there’s so many moments we shared that I will take with me in my career. A true leader, and an 5 star guy. We’ll miss ya bud. Rest easy

I'm so sorry for the loss of your boss Lauren, and also my condolences to all of your co-workers. I still remember six monhs ago when I came to Basil-- I asked Darwin if he was going to give me a great deal.. and then every time he walked by when I was at your desk, he would smile and wink at me. I will never forget that day because I had no idea that would be the last time I saw him.

I'm deeply saddened by the loss of Darwin. It was always a pleasure spending time with him in our West Herr Dale Carnagie class and I looked forward to any opportunity I had in dealing with him at work. He was kind, helpful and dedicated to his work, and more importantly, he was dedicated to his family. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. He will be greatly missed!

Grew up with Darwin in on the same street. He was one of my late brother Joes closet friends. I am blessed to have seen him last week. We sat and caught up. He talked about life and his kids. He was so proud of them. Told me he took his daughter shopping recently and was beaming with pride. Loved his kids so much. Also talked about some great things going on for him. He seemed so genuinely happy. Gave him a huge hug goodbye and he commented how fuzzy my coat was lol. So may laughs and memories.
I remember when our kids were little and him and Amy lived in Florida. We spent the night at dinner and Disney springs with them . That was such a fun night I will always remember along with all the childhood great memories in the neighborhood. RIP Darwin, Joe is with you now. I know it ❤️

I still can’t believe I’m typing this right now. Darwin, I think the hardest thing to become right with is when your call would come through on my phone and I was in a meeting or busy traveling for work and I’d look down and say, oh! I’ll call him back later. It’s hard because today and everyday moving forward I’d take that call in ALMOST any scenario. Your spirit could light up any room, your laughter was infectious, and we loved how you would laugh at your own jokes without fail which of course made even the worst of dad jokes funny anyways. The last two years had been difficult for both of us. We both went through a lot of personal and professional turbulence. At first it made me angry that we had to spend the last two years going through some difficult times. Then after reflecting, I realized that you never truly know someone until they are “going through it”. Darwin and I both got to truly know each other and we both had the opportunity to be there for each other. Friends are the family you choose, and I would choose you every time without hesitation. One of the things I had the pleasure of understanding was the love that he had for his kids Mack and Dom. Darwin was good at a lot of things and he had a passion for many of them, but one thing he loved more than anything else was being a dad. Darwin told me on multiple occasions that he was proud of his kids, but it was rare that he would talk about his kids without tearing up when it was just the two of us talking. I don’t have kids but if I did, I would have a really good blue print for how to be a great dad. Finally, Darwin attracted really great people in his life. I’m so grateful we had been introduced to so many of his connections over the years. Darwin often brought people together so effortlessly and to this day we have great people in our lives because of him. Darwin, I hope you’re sitting around a fire with some of our buddies who passed before you and your having a cigar laughing and listening to 80s music. Save a seat for me, when my time is up, the after life is going to be one hell of a party. Love and forever grateful.
