Obituary of Gary F. Karl
Gary F. Karl of Depew, N.Y. passed away peacefully on January 24, 2025.
Born on April 5, 1947, Gary was the cherished son of the late Bernard and Mary (nee Lippert) Karl. He was raised in Akron, N.Y. and attended the Akron Central school system where he participated and lettered in multiple sports including football and wrestling.
At 18, Gary enlisted in the Air Force. He served his country honorably as an Aircraft Maintenance Specialist, deploying for three consecutive tours in Vietnam, ‘67 ‘68 ‘69. He was presented with several medals of recognition for his accomplishments and sacrifice.
His love for football, fast cars, animals and the outdoors spanned a lifetime. He could often be found in the pits at the Lancaster Speedway, relaxing around a campfire at the state park, drifting by the round house with a fishing line in the water, or at home in his recliner cheering on the Eagles.
Gary met his beloved wife, the late Annabelle Marie (nee Adney) while they were employed at National Gypsum, and they celebrated 40 plus years of marriage together. After relocating to Depew he found employment as a welder at Sefar and remained there until he retired.
He was the devoted father of Jennifer Revell and stepfather of Charmaine (Edward) After Buffalo and Catherine (Scott) Luke. “His girls” blessed him with six wonderful grandchildren-Walker, Rochelle, Eddie, Alex, Courtney and Abbie. Gary was preceded in death by his brother Ron (Lois) Karl and is survived by nieces and nephews.
Burial in the WNY National Cemetery is being planned for early Spring.
